Getting Started

Iloomi is designed to feel like you are sharing a story by talking with a friend. Unlike staring at a blank sheet of paper with a pile of notes, the conversation is designed to help you recall people, places, and moments by asking you questions and guiding you along. You can be as brief or as detailed as you want, Iloomi will take everything you say, and keep the conversation going.

Pro tip: Iloomi supports the voice-to-text feature on your phone, which lets you speak directly into the mic. Just remember to hit submit when you are done.

Instructions & Commands

There are no specific commands needed. Think about the interview like you are having a conversation with a friend — you can take the conversation in any direction you want by slightly changing the subject, or introducing a new memory or element of the story.

Generating a Story

After answering a few questions you will be able to Generate a preview of your story draft. Use this to see how your story is progressing, and use it to identify gaps in the story that you can then add in the interview, and come back and generate again later.‍

Privacy Settings

Your drafts privacy settings will Private by default, below are descriptions for the different privacy levels.

• Featured: The editorial team at Iloomi might feature your story from time to time.
• Public: Anyone on Iloomi will be able to read your story.
• Connections: For your inner circle, viewable by approved connections only.
• Private: Keep it personal, invite-only access for selected individuals.

You can adjust your default setting to always be any of the above.

Sharing a Story (coming soon)

You can share a story as either a draft, or as part of your book. You can share a link to your story by email or text-message, or as a shareable link.

Publishing a Story

All Stories begin as Drafts which lets you add details to a story over the course of a conversation, add your photos and then experiment with the Voice and Tone with which Iloomi crafts your Story. As a Draft, you can also invite contributors to a story to add details from a different perspective and make text edits to put your finishing touches on the story.

‍Once you’re happy with the end result, you can publish it to your Book. Once published, you can then keep it Private, share it with Connections or share it with the the Iloomi community as a Public Story. The choice - and control - is totally is yours to make.

Using Chapters

By default your story will live in My Stories, but you can create new, or rename chapters and assign your story to a specific chapter.

Adding Media

You can add Scans & Photos to your story at any time. The Media Manager will host all your uploads, which you can then bring in to your specific Stories. In addition to creating a gallery, you can also choose a custom cover photo for each story.
